TRAINING

Heat Stress In Flying-foxes

Course Overview

All inducted members are welcome and encouraged to attend this course. During a heat stress event, time is critical and its all hands on deck. We need people from all areas to be involved

We will need as many trained people as possible involved this summer.

We’ll review the current procedures during a heat stress event and debrief previous heat stress events to look for improvements.

What is a heat stress event?

When the weather has a run of multiple 38+ degree heat, along with other factors, flying-foxes will likely die from heat stress.

What we can do

  • Follow instruction from co-ordinator to enter the camp and spray water to assist in survival of flying-foxes
  • Take individuals into care who will otherwise die
  • Support vaccinated carers with filling syringes, preparing baskets, documentation, transport to emergency care

Looking forward to having everyone on board

Catering

Morning tea will be provided.
