Avian Influenza

The threat of avian influenza reaching Australia is real and imminent. This highly pathogenic virus has been spreading across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, with devastating impacts on wild bird populations, domestic poultry, and even some mammals. Experts now warn that it is likely only a matter of time before it reaches our shores.

As wildlife volunteers, you are on the front lines of animal health and welfare. It is vital that we remain informed, vigilant and prepared to minimise the impact in our region and keep ourselves safe.
