Ways you can get involved:
-
Transporting – Transporters are vital in getting injured wildlife from vets to carers, between carers, or even back to the wild after rehabilitation. This support is a huge relief to carers and one of the most rewarding ways to help.
-
Rescuing – Rescuers respond to calls for injured, sick, or orphaned wildlife using our mobile app. New members can begin with birds and possums, while additional training opens the door to working with more complex species such as kangaroos, wallabies, and monitors. Rescue work is highly rewarding and a great way to connect with fellow members.
-
Rehabilitation – Wildlife carers play a critical role in helping animals recover and return to the wild. Care can be tailored to your lifestyle — from having a pre-release aviary to more intensive, hands-on care. Coordinators will help guide you to the most suitable role for your situation.
-
Disaster Relief – During bushfires, floods, heatwaves, and storms, specially trained members are called upon to support wildlife in crisis. This may include “black walks” with the RFS to locate injured animals, setting up feed stations in burnt areas, flood rescue in support of SES, or emergency triage during heat events.
By joining as a Secondary Member, you’ll become part of a dedicated network of volunteers working together to protect and care for wildlife across our region.
