Helpline Phone First Responders, Rescuers & Transporters

Participants will learn how to:

  • Provide assistance & advice to members of the public who call the rescue helpline
  • Answer phone calls received on the 24/7 helpline
  • Provide advice & guidance on rescuing injured animals
  • Provide information as to the nearest vet who the caller can take the animal to
  • Arrange for a Hunter Wildlife Rescuer to attend & rescue the animal
  • Arrange for a transporter to attend and transfer the animal to a vet or a Hunter Wildlife Rescue carer
  • Learn procedures for rescuing native animals & birds
  • Discuss a variety of scenarios of calls that were received on the helpline and the advice that should be provided
  • Learn how to complete fauna data entry sheets
