Teresa Purnell presented Audrey Koosmen, the President, with the cash donations raised for the NATF Inc care of animals by students and staff in Natural History program of the University of Newcastle. Teresa, a student in Natural History Illustration and member and promoter of NATF, announced that approximately $5,800 was raised in the 24 hour event Draw24 which saw students and staff sketching wildlife in a marathon effort through the night of 24 January at the Newcastle Museum. They raised the money through sponsorships of artists, sale of their artworks and a donation tin. Audrey presented Teresa with a Certificate of Appreciation for the participants and marvelled at their endurance effort. Andrew Howells the lecturer organiser of the event wrote that “Funds raised will provide much needed support for the volunteers who give their time to collect and care for injured and displaced native wildlife in the Hunter”. Andrew said he planned to hold the event annually.
