Species: Northern Brown Bandicoot

Bindi, the smallest of three baby bandicoots at 51gms was found in his dead mother’s backward opening pouch. The other siblings sadly did not survive.

Bindi is now 200gms, fully weaned and foraging for natural foods such as seeds, roots, grubs, woodies, beetles, crickets, pinkies and his favourite are quail eggs which he locates and he eats with gusto.

February 2009
Bindi has successfully learnt how to hunt natural foods, build a grass shelter and avoid predators. Bindi has now been released and has been replaced by new pouch young orphans from Floraville, Tom & Geraldine at 42gm and 43gms respectively and Hawkeye (83gm) from Hawks Nest.
